The IKA® HABITAT photo ferment cct is the photobioreactor control tower for fermentation applications on the IKA HABITAT research benchtop bioreactor. Its two LED light panels turn a HABITAT system into a photo-fermenter for light-driven bioprocesses — activating metabolic pathways in microorganisms to produce complex pharmaceuticals, vitamins and other beneficial metabolites. The "cct" configuration adds connection options for three further sensors — CO2, conductivity, and turbidity — on top of the standard pH, DO, temperature, level and foam monitoring. The tower houses the control unit, four built-in mass flow controllers (N2, O2, air, CO2) for fermentation-range 100–20000 cc/min gassing, four integrated Watson-Marlow peristaltic pumps for acid, base, anti-foam and nutrient dosing, and a 10.4-inch tablet running IKA's bioprocess software with batch, fed-batch and perfusion/continuous modes, calibration management, real-time data, and optional FDA 21 CFR Part 11 documentation. PID temperature control works with single-wall vessels (heating blanket) or double-wall vessels (with an IKA thermostat, 5–80 °C). Note: the control tower requires a separately available HABITAT vessel package to form a complete, functional bioreactor.
